This year I'm growing a dye garden of Indigo, Madder, French Marigold and Morning Glory! All 700 + seeds have been planted in egg cartons to start the starts that I will transplant to my 400 square foot community garden plot in mid-May.
The majority of the space will be devoted to indigo that is best known for it's vivid blue dye. Madder root creates an incredible red dye so I'm hoping it will grow well enough in Colorado to harvest in 2 to 3 years. French marigold will produce a lovely yellow and I don't know about Morning Glory - it will be a surprise!
More to follow as the project progresses...
